If you are a small business owner beware of this bank and location. The branch manager here is part of a business network group and will hound you with trying to get you to use her "people". The people who work at this bank are miserable here and when you see them out of the bank they act like they do not know you. In addition if you move your to another bank the customer service stops. Branch manager was so eager and on time signing me up. When in came to tax season asked the branch manager for access to the account for the bookkeeper. Left me hanging for weeks causing me to filing my taxes late. I went to another bank and asked 6 people to stop debits and credits on my account. Until I get all my accounts situated with new account. Because I did not use the word "freeze" it was never done. It caused me to get over $400 in ISF fees. Even after call after call they still wack me with fees. Then talking to the headquarters they are just as incompetent as the local bank. I guess it is real when they say starts with the top down. This "bank" cares about the 1% and gives two (&^% about small businesses and the middle class. This might be the oldest bank in Mass but also has the worst service and oldest technology. Wonder how much the Executives went home with last year because they royally screwed me had another business account they closed that and used the money to pay the overage on my other business account. Stay far away from this bank!

I've never experienced such horrible banking in my life.There was a security breach with my account, I was told come into the branch and file fraud paper work etc. which I did.I never heard another word from the bank, I was called by customer service numerous numerous times over my account now being over drawn "which again was Not my wrong doing". Come to find out after numerous calls i made to this bank,I was told that a letter supposedly was mailed out to me and they needed more proof from me that I did NOT authorize this transaction and now I needed to go BACK into the branch to refile fraud paper work. Which I did, all for it NOT to be filed and For them to now charge off my account. So now I am "trying" to contact the charge off department (who does not return calls) so I can prove my case yet again. This has been going on for months now and I still have not got this cleared up. Now I have to get a lawyer involved so I don't have a negative mark against me. I've never in my life experienced more unprofessional,Negligent and irresponsible people in one company as I have with this bank.STAY CLEAR OF THIS BANK!

Always friendly

I have been going to this particular bank through 3 of its moves. There are at least 2 tellers that have been there about as long as I have been going, 26 years. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else for my main banking needs.
The only complaint I have is that its so hot in there! I stick to the drive thru.

My Eastern Bank debit card had a security breach 2 weeks ago, so my attorney (trustee) sent me a new card. I went to the East Weymouth branch to activate this card, BUT my new card did not open the door. Oh darn, I should have brought the old card to get in! Fortunately, a woman who works at the bank was there to open the door, oh how lucky is that!BUT, she said I am here to open the door BUT I can not let you in! Ruff! Not even a smile from her. I showed her my Eastern Bank debit card, she did not even look over at me.
SO HOW AM I YOUR FIRST PRIORITY? You need to change your slogan on line people! Bah Humbeg Eastern Bank.
I only needed to use the ATM, not enter the bank!

It was fast and easy for me to open a checking account with them. The staff was very friendly and courteous to me. I should have done business with them sooner.

The Back Bay Branch of Eastern used to be excellent until Wainwright sold to Eastern. The new Assistant Manager was rude, loud and unpleasant to deal with. I am happy to say that she has gone and seems to be have been replaced by an excellent person. Apparently, the former Manager was friendly with the former Assistant Manager and chose to leave also which was twice the joy. Hopefully now the branch will return to its former excellence and I will improve my ratings. The Staff held over before the Eastern takeover are excellent and probably kept many of us with it. But EXTREMELY pleased that the former Assistant Manager is gone for good.

this is a no frills report on this office. I have been dealing with Eastern, Mattapoisett for many years. In my 71 years, there has never been a more efficient branch of any bank that I have seen. Excellent service and a staff that knows you by first name. Of course, the fact that all of the young ladies have been magnificently trained is very obvious.

I just had to comment on how wonderful the entire staff is in Downtown Plymouth. They go beyond the call of duty with everything that they do. I normally have nothing but great things to say about Eastern Bank, however I had never had to deal with this branch before this past week.
My husband deposited money on a Friday but then on Saturday the deposit was not in our account which left our account negative seven hundred dollars. What's worse we were in NH on a last family vacation before the summer ended. We spent the entire weekend with that negative balance.
When I went to this particular branch where the deposit was made I was told it was a computer error. Which I can understand however I wanted them to know exactly how much this error inconvenienced my family. When the customer service rep offered to have the branch manager come over I said sure. Well after a few minutes I heard her say "oh, she's still waiting for me?" That is just plain awful for a manager to say especially when the bank was at fault! When she did come over to me I was barely offered an apology, but was offered the sentiment that "these things happen". Really?! You go on vacation with no money and we'll see how you feel about someone telling you "these things happen" and then offer to order you encrypted deposit slips. It's not comforting or what a customer wants to hear! You say I'm sorry this happened, look and act empathetic, and don't try to throw it back on the customer! That's all. I don't need a technical explanation. I want you to apologize for the huge inconvenience your branch caused me. I left there wanting to pull all my money out along with shaking my head at the sheer insensitivity. I have NEVER encountered this in the Saugus Lynn Fells branch or at the Main Street Melrose branch. This manager needs a lesson in customer service. Now I have to go back in there and explain that their error caused us a returned fee for an EFT payment to our gym. I can't wait to see how this "manager" handles this situation.
Eastern Bank on the whole is great. Just don't go to this branch, stick with Main Street!

The drive through window is very very slow. What is most annoying is that you can see the tellers conversing, laughing, etc while you sit waiting for someone to help. Would not even be writing this review if it hadn't happened so many times. The last time, the teller could see how annoyed I was, and to add insult to injury SHE became confrontational!! What??? I mumbled under my breath, and she heard that!! Holding my deposit in her hand she began saying "excuse me?" at least three times, further delaying me! Closing my account. No one should be treated that way. My annoyance was completely justified, how dare she!! As we all know, when one becomes that defensive, it because they know they are wrong. An apology is what I should have gotten.

Did it occur to you that maybe she had a customer? I go to that branch and I know there is no one dedicated to the drive up because they have a small staff. I've been going there for years and they're all great!!! Love the branch.
