i was a customer at wachovia, for many years.. and had no problems. then wells fargo took over. since the new name.. i have tried to make transactions thru their westomont drive-thru.. a total of 5 times. each time.. the wait was horrendous. it wasn't a matter of too many customers before me.. for there was never more than two.. and most times, just one. in my last visit.. another disgruntled customer beeped her horn.. tired of the long wait. i totaled the time i waited, in my five trips.. and it came to almost 2 hours. that's 2 hours of waiting time for 5 trips to a drive-thru. that alone.. is forcing me to cancel my account. in addition, three of the five times.. i let the teller know what denominations i wanted, by way of a written note. each of these three times.. the teller got the denominations incorrect. if you read: Fifty $1's.. would you understand that to mean Fifty Single Dollar Bills? the teller gave me one $50 bill. if you asked for all small denominations.. would you expect to get nothing but hundred dollar bills? btw. why must i have to turn the speaker on to speak to a teller. why can't the speaker be on, during the whole transaction? i had just talked to the teller.. then seconds later, while still at the drive-thru.. i remembered something i wanted to add. too late. the teller had turned her speaker off, without giving any pause. sure.. i could have turned my speaker back on.. but should it have had to go like that? what was her hurry? sure didn't make me feel special. kind of rude, if you ask me.

My mother is 90 and has suffered several strokes, thus I oversee her finances. Regardless, Wells Fargo's Millbrae branch repeatedly harassed her over the phone, urging her to open various accounts, lines of credit and a credit card. My mother can neither speak nor comprehend well and she repeatedly told this to the Wells Fargo employee and asked that he stop calling her.
Instead, without any authorization from my mother or me, he opened in her name a new checking account, an ATM card, a credit card, and a Wells Fargo line of credit. Of course, the checking account required that he move money from another account, and both it and the line of credit came with an annual fee.
Only later did Wells Fargo send notice to my mother's house acknowledging that it lacked her signature on all of these new accounts and asked that she sign a form, essentially providing authorization after the fact.
She didn't sign and instead I called Wells Fargo, the national 800 number and the local branch, and that's when the situation turned truly appalling. The 800 number fumbled its way through several calls, first providing the incorrect contact information for my mother's local branch, then keeping me on hold for fifteen minutes before hanging up, and then, finally, speaking to a local branch manager on my behalf and reporting that it couldn't determine who had called my mother or opened the accounts.
The local branch manager said the same thing, that all of its employees receive call sheets and it's impossible to track who harassed my mother and then illegally moved her money around and opened these accounts. Essentially, no one would be reprimanded and obviously the practice would continue.
Except they're not telling the truth. I spoke with my lawyer, who reported that this practice is done through the bank's marketing division and whoever fraudulently opened these accounts received a commission. Which can obviously be traced.
The bottom line is Wells Fargo acted fraudulently and while I will close all accounts there this week, based upon its indifferent response, I suspect this behavior is widespread, at least within the Millbrae branch at 490 Broadway.
When a bank harasses and subsequently takes money from a 90-year-old woman who can't comprehend or communicate, someone must be held accountable. This is fraud and elder abuse. And Wells Fargo's response to all of this has been appalling.

the worst customer service ive had in years. straight lied to me and said the asst man(middle easten guy) had left for the day and then he walks in putting out a cigarette. i asked for my paper he had left a mesg for me saying was ready and he wanted me to sit and wait. he knew exactly who i was and, after explaing i was in a rush and, asking him 5 times for the paper, he said he didnt have it anymore. another, in my face lie. i have a message on my machine, from him, thats says its there ready to pick up. so all this is heard by all the employees and, customers. i then ask to speak with his manager, wich isnt in and, they say will have to call for me. so i jokingly tell another male employee standing close that all i need is my goddamn paper, that they asst man has for me to pick up. he then told me i had to leave. i asked why and,he said i just had to leave. so i asked for my paperwork again, he said he knew who i was and, somehow i would get it. he again told me to leave. had i raised my voice or anything i might expect something but this guy liked his moment of power and it must have made him feel good to tell a longtime customer to leave the bank. i asked why and he couldnt say.

I've banked with Wells Fargo for almost 10 years now and I couldn't agree more with the other people that have talked about their horrible customer service. On top of that, their personal bankers have absolutely no idea what they are doing seeing as how every year or 2 I'm told that I'm not in the right accounts for myself...to which I always say 'you guys put me in them' and then they say some back handed comment about the last banker that helped me....like that really makes me have more faith that this one knows what they're doing?!?
I am over ridiculous charges, bankers not showing up for meetings, way too long of lines and basically being treated horrible.

I have been a Wells Fargo customer for 25+ years and I have finally had enough of its poor customer service. I have been Wells number one fan until 12 months ago and from that point, everything from loans, transferring money, charging me for a safe deposit box I don't have, and the rudest, most condescending staff I have ever encountered has led me to the decision to move away from the bank. The service manager Dara need a lesson in service.

I've had a major business account with this bank for several years. They have always been combative, and make you feel like they're your customer rather than the other way around. This bank changes their policies willy nilly, and arbitrairily assigns check holds when they feel like it. They charge excess fees, and invent silly fees to charge. In just the past 2 weeks, they have put a 10 day hold on a local bank check and caused us problems, they have also put a 7 day hold on a local cashier's check treating it like an out of town check, then charging us a cash deposited fee on top of that. This bank charges us $50+ per month just because we deposit cash! Stay away, we are in the process of getting out ourselves.

Assuming that their ATM machine which invites you to buy stamps does not charge extra for them -- a silly assumption, to be sure, but then when you buy stamps at supermarkets, for example, they do not charge extra -- I decided to buy some stamps after depositing my checks. I then realized -- too late to do anything about it -- that they charge an almost $2 fee for 18 stamps! That is at least 4 more stamps worth! Outraged, I went inside to see if I can return the stamps, get my money and just go across the street to buy them at the post office. $2 is not a lot of money but I really did not want to be an enabler in such a rippoff. But there was no sympathy for me inside the Wedgwood Branch, even though we have been with the bank for many, many years and have been outstanding customers. I was told they were not responsible for their ATMs, that the ATM did post the price (true, but at the very end of the process while there is no warning on the initial screen that there is such a high mark-up), and that I could basically fly a kite. The manager was defensive and even rude. I am seriously considering taking my business elsewhere

My parents use this bank (they're new to it) because they're in assisted living next door. That's the ONLY reason. This "banking" facility is run by children and they're ridiculously unorganized and stupid. If they open a drawer looking for a form, that drawer is crammed with various papers. Shame on Wells Fargo for keeping this branch open. I'm trying to get my parents to move to a real bank.

We have been with this bank for 20 years and we have never been treated so poorly as we were at the Oak Mountain Branch in Birmingham. If it were not for the Riverchase branch we would have quickly changed banks. We had several questions about our account and the customer service rep actually started agruing with us and hung up in our face. WOW... wrong career for this individual!!

I first moved here from LA and had a wonderful experience with them. The top manager was super friendly, exchanged lots of laughs, I felt at home.
However, I am trying to cash a $100 check with my nickname on it in place of my first name. Unfortunately, to cash any check, you would need those exact names on the account. I have other forms of I.D. such as social security card and naturalization forms, and the lady that picked up the phone when I called to ask about it was such a b****! She couldn't even let me slide with a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR CHECK, even with good standing history, etc. etc. And I used to work for that damn institute.
I am so furious as I am HUNGRY and need my damn money. But of course, they are only looking out for themselves. I would not recommend anyone to go to this branch. Whoever that lady is that picked up the phone was straight RUDE. So rude, I actually had to write a review about it.

I've been a longtime Wellsfargo client, both business and personal. Since this branch has moved to Keller Pkwy from Price, the service as deteriorated significantly. It doesn't appear that the focus is on the customer. Although they loudly say 'Courtesy' is there focus. I would recommend the management take a closer look at how they treat customers as they enter into the bank. What appears to be an attitude that 'it isn't my job' to greet customers is apparent.

I use 4 banks in the town. This is the worst bank. The staff is pathetic. It takes forever to even deposit money. One time waited for 20 min. I would not do business with this bank and specially with this branch. There is fee for everything. Do not breath, yawn or sneeze you might get charged.I made my feelings known to the manager Preston.

I had been banking with wells fargo since i was 16 and my mom and i opened my first bank account. while i lived in Texas, and had little to no money, wells fargo was great. when i graduated and went to college in SD things rapidly went downhill. First of all, when i deposited some savings bonds that my parents bought for me when i very young, the tellers looked up the bonds and gave me the exact rate that they found for those exact bonds. 3 months later they decided that they felt they had given me too much for those bonds and pulled out over $300 w/out giving me any notice what so everof that happening just before 4th of july weekend. so everytime i used my debit card that weekend, they gave me a $34 over draft fee (12 times) i went through hell getting them to admit their mistake but they still would not credit me back all of my o/d fees. i was furious! so i paid off all of my fees zeroed out my balance and closed the account and went to pioneer bank and trust (also here in Spearfish. and they have been excellent by the way). about 6 months later i got a call from an outside collections agency saying that after i had zeroed out and closed the account, wellsfargo had put another overdraft fee on the already closed account, and that the account had charged off and been sent to an outside collections agency.... AGAIN I RECEIVED NO NOTICE THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING TO ME AND IT DESTROYED MY GOOD CREDIT! when i found out what happened to my credt, i called and spoke to a representative who notified me that she could find absolutely no reason that another o/d fee was assessed to my account and that she would have the branch manager call me back to get it resolved... NO CALL BACK! I waited a week and called again. this time the representative reviewed the last call and informed me that he also saw no reason why this shouldve been done and that he would also have the bank manager return my call... AGAIN NO CALL BACK! So today i called and told them that i would hold until the manager could take my call. When he finally answered my call, he claimed that there were no notes as to what had happened to my account or that i had called and requested to speak to him previously. He also told me that it was my responsibility to bring the account current regardless of the legitimacy of the fees and that they had tried to send me notice in the mail but that it had been returned to them as a wrong address and then he read to me MY EXACT ADDRESS! He then started back peddling and making ridiculous claims to the extent that they do not make errors!!! finally he agreed that he would look more fully into my account and call me back later today... and i still have not heard back from him. WELLS FARGO SPEARFISH BRANCH IS COMPOSED OF UNETHICAL, IMMORAL, THEIVES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE WITH ANYTHING AT ALL TO LOSE STEER CLEAR OF THEM!

This 35 YEAR customer witnessed BOTH TIMES. On New Years Eve this customer spent 1 +1/2 hours of personal time to secure the bank by calling WELLS FARGO and SHERIFF. Customer Waited in front of bank pretending to be Bank Personnel apologizing for the bank being closed early. DID THIS FOR THE SECURITY OF THE BANK. Customer CALLED REPEATEDLY to get a Manager to COME LOCK BANK DOORS!!! AFTER the SECOND TIME DOORS LEFT UNLOCKED, Customer went into WELLS FARGO BRANCH to address concerns WITH MANAGER and REGIONAL MANAGER but was IGNORED and was ASKED TO LEAVE!! TOO BUSY TO LISTEN!!! ABOUT SECURITY BREACH!!! Customer has been in bank before while it was being robbed. Many other robberies executed at this branch!!! And at least once it was found out that it was an inside job!! The tellers are golden. Stay clear of the bankers! They are constantly trying to push new services on me. The latest is a special account they said I really needed to shop online from. Everything they said about the account, I didn't like, so they kept changing their story. They were wrong about so many things. Their error cost me $100 out of my savings until I called the 1-800 # and was told all the facts. I was shocked at how much the Ankeny branch banker left out. I was able to close the account and get my money back, but they'll no doubt get pushy again.

My family has banked at Norwest and then Wells Fargo for years. As homesteaders in NE, we have been pretty loyal to our banks throughout the generations. Recently, at my mother's death, we counted on our "local" Wells Fargo bank to handle issues compassionately, professionally and, of course, accurately. Not only did we receive rude and impersonal service from the branch manager, we have not to this date received POD funds even after presenting COD. No calls were returned and no resolution to date. Speaking of the phone line - with the call-tree -- if you try to get a "live" local person -- it most often routes to national number. Even my WF branch's officer in another state could not get through the line. After attempting to leave messages through a "back line" from out-of-state, we reached an ag manager who initially stated that the branch manager, Troy, would return calls. The branch manager, Troy, never returned our calls and continued to horribly botch our service. My family and I will not stop until everyone we can possibly reach out to -- reads how horrible this branch is. My hope is that someone in Wells Fargo will understand that it is a true black mark on the good name and strong brand to have such incompetent and incredibly inept leader(s) in this bank!

I went in to have a signature on some treasury documents witnessed, for the purpose of redeeming bonds from my mother's estate. After a ten minute+ wait, the guy takes me into his office, doesn't have a clue. He's never seen these treasury forms, used to redeem bonds that are inherited and over $1000 in value. He calls someone that deals with the stamp that he's supposed to apply to my papers, they tell him to call "legal". He calls, gets a wait recording, puts it on speakerphone, we proceed to wait for almost a half hour, during which I fell asleep in his office. It was almost to the point of comical. I told him to copy some of the documentation and get back to me. I had brought the forms, the bonds, death certificates for both of my parents, a notarized document naming my sister executor, a notarized document, signed by my sister, giving me permission to deal with the bonds. I go home, he calls 45 minutes later, says they can't do it. Why? The letter from my sister references my mother's estate, not my father's, whose name is on the bonds. I explained that my father had passed 10 years ago, making the bonds part of my mother's estate (she passed in June). Nope, can't do it, I'll need another letter from my sister, who just doesn't have the time to deal with this. Meantime I'm trying to beat a year end tax deadline and get the bonds sent to the Fed. Reserve for redemption. I asked to speak to the branch manager, he says "that's me". Unbelievable. I hung up. I went to the branch at 58th ave and 11 st in Greeley, 10 minutes later I had my forms signed and stamped.

I was swished over to this bank when Wachovia closed out. They have a terrible online banking system that doesn't give you the current infomation they are approximately 4-5 days behind, and if you call the 800 # they see the same thing. I had an overdraft, off only by a few $'s that turned into a serious situation for me. When I looked online I could see that a week ago I had a check bounce, but I didn't know who it was written to. As it turned out there was a check for $5.00 for the PTO that bounced 3 x's. And another for $40.00 a fundraiser that bounced 3 x's. I am sure they are happy they got their cash, but as a single parent with no child support and only a few $'s a month extra, this turned into a nightmare for several months. When I took the morning off to go in and talk with them, not realizing that they didn't open until "9"am. I waited for 45 mins in the lobby before I finally asked to speak to someone who said they would get back to me that day with some feedback because by that time I had to get into work. I never heard one word either way.
My plan had been to switch all my money to that account from Regions.. the only thing this bank did for me is help me to appreiciate my Regions account.
