I have been with United Bank from the beginning when it switched over from Marathon Bank. It seems the rules change depending on the tellers working that day! I went to deposit a large check, the amount totally confused the teller. On the deposit slip I wanted to receive $383.89 back from the check. Again she looked confused. I was told I couldn’t get any money back from the check the whole check had to be deposited with a seven day hold, even though I had way over the whole amount of the check in my savings and way over the $300 in my checking….this just didn’t make sense to me. After depositing the entire check she told me I could get money out of my savings or checking … just forget it I’ll go to the ATM…. Please train your employees how to treat your customers and how to count money! That confused look on her face made me wonder if I should trust my money in this bank???

Today I had the pleasure of having Ms.Maury Help Me with a
problem with my checking acct specifically my debit card.  Ms. Maury was efficient, knowledgeable and resolved my problem quickly despite her computer running a little slow, which she apologied for. She was discreet and thorough. I appreciate this employee and have spoken with her on several occasions and today I decided to leave this review.  Please recognize Ms. Maury for her great service to myself and the citizens of Greer SC.  Thank you

I was with Essex bank(I give 5 stars) out of Goochland, Va until I was thrown to the wolves when United took over. They win hands down when it comes to the worse bank and terrible customer service. I feel they play games cause they can. Dates get changed on debit card purchases and take over a week to post. Holds on checks unless someone at the bank "knows you" I'm not from this town but on my paper for only a $2,000.00 check said the Reason for the hold was from a confidential informant saying there's a chance it won't be paid. At the same time, I had checked for $500.00 and a hold was put on that. Both being checks from me, to me. In the mean time, I put in for an external transfer from another establishment for $700.00 again, from me to me. A hold on a transfer? Pfffft. At Essex Bank I deposited a $52,000.00 check it as well had a hold on it, but I was given $1,000.00 that very day then in a few days I had access to a bit more.I have a $20,000.00 Ive been sitting on cause I downright hate United. Did I mention it took over a month to even get a debit card? They don't return phone calls. I have an $86.00 charge on my debit that I did not purchase. I called on June 6th to report fraud. It is June 11 and it still hasn't been taken care of. On June 13 I'm going to F&M. My parents banked there for year's and 0 complaints. Bad thing is my acct number is my sons birthday and if I flip the last 2 numbers it would be my age when I joined Essex Bank.He passed away in 2016 at the age of 21. I opened this acct in 2017. Thanks for nothing but a hard time. Smh. I DO NOT recommend this or any United bank. Friends in Goochland are complaining about the same things.
