So far TCF have costed me more money than anything else. They charge overdraft fees at the drop of a pin. They charged me an overdraft fee on money that was already in the account to cover whatever went out of the account. They charged me an overdraft fee on depositing my stimulus check and withdrawing some of the money. This last time they charged me 5 overdraft fees on the same item on the same day. I called the branch that I normally go to, they told me that the manager would get back to me and i am still waiting to hear back, its been over two weeks noe

TCF is the most incompetent bank I've ever seen.  They can't seem to communicate within their own walls.  We left a few years ago because of this, but are co-owners of a home morgage with my daughter.  This year she wanted to refinance her loan, and chose (against my advice) to stay with TCF because she believed it would be cheaper. (it wasn't). It took them 4 months to refinance a loan they held on a property they had the mortgage on.  But it gets worse. She/we have been getting notices that she missed payments for over a month.  This is not true.  Payments are taken automatically out of her TCF account.  Yes we verified that they had gone out, and called them and they confirmed the payments had been/were being made.  They said to ignore it as it was straightened out and payments had always been up to date.  My wife talked to them again and the person she talked to was unaware there had been a refinance, but said the payments were all up to date. I got notice today that my credit rating dropped 80 points from about 820 to 740 because of them.  There is no excuse for this level of incompetence in operations. When I get home, we will make some personal visits.

It took two visits to the branch in Mt. Clemens to close my checking account. At the second visit, I was assured the account was closed. On the advice of TCF's customer service, I contacted companies who were receiving automatic payments from the TCF account and made sure the payment information was changed to my new bank (Flagstar). Then, a month later, I receive an email from "Fiserve, the service provider with TCF Digital Banking with TCF National Bank." Fiserve wrote, "At your request, Fiserv processed the payment to [car loan servicer] . . . . However, after sending money to [car loan servicer], Fiserv could not withdraw the funds from your payment account. As a result, the money Fiserv sent to [car loan servicer] on your behalf was returned to Fiserv. . . . Any service fees associated with insufficient funds in your account to pay CHASE AUTOMOTIVE will be withdrawn in accordance with your TCF Digital Banking terms of service. Other standard processing fees may apply. This email is an attempt to collect on a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose." No one at TCF told me about Fiserve. Now I have a company attempting to withdraw funds from a checking account that has been closed, and the company is calling this an "insufficient funds" issue and a "debt" report. TALK ABOUT HARASSMENT!
