I called in to ask about having a $35 fee removed b/c a check went through on the same day my deposit was entered ... the customer service woman said that they would remove them only if I had "an officer assigned to my account." I asked her what that meant and she said that if someone "knew a banker" and were assigned them as their officer that they could have fees removed, but otherwise no.
I thought it was odd that she said that, and annoying. It would have been better just to say that they never removed a fee, and not flat out telling me that SOME people always got them removed and SOME people weren't going to get that special privilege. Left me feeling like I needed to find a new bank, not because of the $35 fee (not really a huge deal, but it would have BEEN NICE to get a one-time grace on that since I've used this bank for over 15 years), but more because of the strange statement letting me know about special treatment being given to high rollers/friends of the bankers. That's the kind of thing that shouldn't really be said out loud. ;)
