Have been with Sovereign for the last 10 years and several mergers.  Being unfamiliar with this particular branch, my boyfriend opened an account with them so I could assist him with his account.  This was the worst mistake ever.  The representative sent his card to the wrong address up the street and it was lost.  Someone ordered checks from the account and it wasn't him nor I, and no one knows who or how they were ordered them, or where they are. Then to replace the bank cards they charged two $10.00 Fed Ex fees. Was it our fault the lady transposed his mailing address so he didn't get them in the first place? The bank they sent them to the Millersville Branch and it still took 5 days for them to get it. (You could ride your bike faster.) Guess what, we only got one card.  Ohh... and better yet, they charged a 35.00 overdraft fee for their own errors.  Well, they are the ones who messed it up, so why are they charging us a fee?  The account was opened on 1/18/13 - today's date is 2/20/13. The errors were caught as soon as they happened... I wanted to close the account but the kind lady at MU, Judy, said this would be a fee too, if it occurred prior to 90 days. So, yes.... as the header says it's better to stuff your funds in your mattress than to deal with this branch.

If I could give this branch a negative rating I would. The people here always act as though you are bothering them. They never want to give you any customer service. Depending on the teller will depend on the answer you get to your question it may be a different answer depending on the day. You will get friendlier customer service from the ATM.

i have had NOTHING but problems with this bank since the day i opened accounts with them. i left bank of america because of their everything fees, but i almost immediately regretted it. the tellers are all rude and slow, the computers are constatly "down", and they screwed up replacing my worn debit/atm card THREE TIMES. paying fees for far superior service is DEFINITELY the better option. not to mention sovereign is so far behind the times im surprised they dont use a hammer and chisel...

Worst Service Ever!

If there is a way to select a (-)star this branch really deserve it.  End of October I opened a checking account (because it is close to my job). I was attended by Maura Alexander who was very pleasant and effective doing her job (I was very happy at that time thinking that was the best bank ever)  2 weeks after I had to come back to the branch as I never received in the mail my ATM card and the online package to set my online banking.  I had to ordered overnight to the bank address my ATM card and pay over 30 boss for that, that was the first time I meet Jeniffer Garcia (Please Sovering you need to reconsidering about keeping that lady in your bank)

After the first week of December (YES) I still was waiting for my online banking information, check, etc, in my mail. Up to that time I had 3 visit to this branch and talking, email, and voice messages to the same person (Jeniffer Garcia) whom instead of making a little bit effort to resolved the problem just show a dishonor gesture with her face while talking to me in person, forget about answering emails or returning voice messages.  

I decided to try another branch as it seems that Broadway and 35th location doesn't have any other personal that really helps clients. I tried the branch located at 1062 3rd avenue (because it is close to my apartment) Thanks god I meet Marc Dennis whom in less than 10 minutes resolved the problem that Jeniffer Garcia couldn’t resolved in more than a month.  I won’t give details about what he did but whatever Marc did about service a client is what every bank should do with their customer.

Jeniffer I’ll recommend you go and observe just for 1 day how Marc do his job. It will help you to keep the clients in your branch. You are offering the worst customer services ever in all NYC business.

Horrible horrible horrible!! The tellers are the rudest people alive. Basically if you're not related to them, know them by name or suck up to them you will wait for hours and have them be unbelievable rude to you. I've been to a lot of Soveriegn banks over the years and the New Dorp lane branch is horrendous! Customer service is horrible! Not one person there knows what they're doing. I waited in line for 30 minutes!!!! While one teller was helping someone and the other 2 were standing around talking to each other. I couldn't believe it! Try to avoid that bank like the plague if you can.

I went to the Eltingville Branch, in Staten Island ,NY, to make a deposit for the company I work for, while there, I asked the woman at the window, about my opening up a checking and Savings for myself personally. The woman went on a tirade, and started screaming at me with a British accent which she didn't have when I first spoke to her, she was saying crazy stuff, that I couldn't understand, I got my receipt and left, but not before I asked another teller what the other teller's name was. Martha Ruiz was the crazy woman's name, but why do you have crazy people working for you, I will not open an account of any kind with Santander as long as she is there, and I will ask my place of business to change to another bank until she is fired!

HORRIBLE!
Worst customer service EVER! Customer service rep was horrible and ignorant to my needs and banking in general. My kids have accounts there ONLY because it is the only atm at their school! I will NEVER do my business there!! Last time I was there I waited  15 minutes in drive thru with NO customers inside! My son got a student account, the rep NEVER ordered checks but said he did. When I told him to look it up and show me, he said "oh I never ordered them" duhhh no kidding...he did not feel a need to apologize. UGH HORRIBLE!

I was ok with S.B. before because the Worcester, Ma locations are great! But Framingham, Ma union St so far is horrobal! The teller was texting while she withdraw my account and made a big mistake so i thought she stole my money or made a mistake! But at least S.B. fix the problem and return my money back! But next time make shure you keep your receipt for every transaction!

im not a customer with SB but i went there before to cash a check they ask for 2 forms of ID! i really hate that

every bank does that some need a finger print even on top of it... it's for your security and the securities of the teller

I hate when people complain about stupid things! it's a bank bring more than one id...  duh

There are no words in the entire dictionary to truly capture the disgust one is in for when they decide to do business with this bank.

The branch manager is never to be found - or worse, they don't have one for months at a time - the business banker is incompetent in all forms of communication and skill, and the building is ready to crumble into bits. No one who works there knows what's going on, they don't even know who their coworkers are, and never take responsibility for their actions.

BEWARE of Sovereign, but ESPECIALLY BEWARE of their Huguenot Branch. It is DESPICABLE beyond belief.

I went into this branch a month ago & spoke with the Br. Mgr about an unauthorized acct transfer for $50 ti an unknown acct. I was told it had to be investigated & I will be contacted. As to date, I still don't know why my acct was charged & had to call back the branch only to be transferred to tellers who had no idea what the sitaution was about. The Br. Mgr. was & still is very unprofessional in letting this matter go unresolve for this long in this day & age of technology!!

THEY MISSED PLACED A AUTO PAYMENT THAT I MADE IN CASH AND HAVE A RECEIPT FOR.IT HAS BEEN 1 MONTH AND SO FAR THEY CANNOT FIND WHERE THE MONEY WENT. COME ON GUYS GET IT TOGETHER....... STAY AWAY

Worst customer service I've ever encountered at a bank and that's saying something. Rather than try to address my problem (overdraft fees, with largest charge put through first, so a fee of $35 could be charged on smaller checks that would have been covered by existing balance), the Park Square branch manager told me, "If you're not happy with our service, why don't you just close your account?" Good question. Unfortunately, my wife and I have a three business and three personal accounts with the bank, so switching would be no simple matter for us. BTW, I gave the bank a one-star rating only because zero was not an option.

Needed to pay my mortgage and like all times in Hamburg and also now in orwigsburg branch asked the teller to look up my acct number  absolutely with a smile . Now I had my wife stop to pay it on the way to the hospital and the male behide the counter couldent look up the acct she is my wife now my wife almost broke down to tears because she was going to be late to take care of you grandma or pa  which was the case thanks a lot you lost me as a personal acct and am very close to buying our 2 house and believe me I'm not even interested in your services not at all.

'This customer is not the only disgruntled one. I have gone in to make my car payments to the Bridge Street branch in Windsor CT. Everytime I go in there there are two tellers and one may be busy and the other one will not acknowledge me. I have also been the only customer in the building and I wait to be acknowledged and patiently wait and do not get any customer service. It has gotten to the point where I will just simply walk up to the counter (if I am the only customer) drop off the payment announce what my purpose is and then simply just walk out of the building. It has been several months and they continue to give me "attitude" whenever I try to interact with them. I am deaf and may have difficulty speaking, however that should not be reason to receive this kind of treatment from ANY teller! If I could I would refinance my car with another bank, and this bank was chosen by the dealership and I was not informed or I would have requested a different bank from the beginning as I knew that the bank was not a friendly one.'

Horrible Bank Manager!!

The branch on Crossbay Blvd. in Howard Beach,N.Y. has the worst bank manager.
Although the wait is very long because the staff has been cut to the bone, the two employees remain very polite and efficient

The bank manager appears to be pleasant unless you choose to close your account. Then his demeanor  changes to that of a spoiled child who becomes personally offended that you are leaving and acts out.

He also appears to be chauvinistic.

The manager makes solicitation calls on joint accounts to promote various investments but will only speak to the man of the house.

Won't deal with a bank that allows this type of behavior.

This is absolutely the worst branch in R.I.Every time I need to see a customer rep.I wait over 45 minutes.All of these reps ignore me while they are playing with their computer or socializing with each other.Because of this I've pulled my checking and savings out of this bank
