Attempt to open a business account turned to a confrontational verbal altercation on May 2023. This discourages the local businesses, said business's partners, and the community they serve from placing basic trust in this bank and its representatives.

In place of figuring out weather our manager's passport along with second form of ID suffice in place of a Drivers License as identification, the interaction was turned into an abrupt verbal deterrent and disrespect.  This is no way to do business.

We highly encourage any business owners around the South Suburban area of Chicago to remain far from this bank. If this is done to one, then it is surely a culture in that working environment performed against others, let alone how the depositors are treated when their monies are placed in the hands of this bank.

Bad business.

Terrible organization,I was never notified by Merchant's of my maintenance fee. Go negative $10.56 in the bank. Still no notification even though I have the app. Then I've been hot with overdraft fees ever since until I checked my account to see how mu account was just expecting a dollar or so. No, I find myself -$48.56 then I just keep getting hit even though I tried to talk them to stop. They won't, they don't care.

After making a deposit to my First Merchants account from my personal checking account from another nearby bank - First Merchants Bank placed a 2 week hold on the amount because they claimed that the funds could not be verified; however, they offered me $200 the next day as a courtesy and there after would provide me my money in increments but the total amount would not be available for 2 weeks. I contacted my other bank and they informed me that my check had cleared the next day and that First Merchants bank had my money and would not release it. I contacted the Corporate Customer Services office and they told me that the hold was the Banks discretion to keep my money and pay me a little each day until the 2 week hold was over. My question to them was, since I only deposited one check in my account why are they dishing out my money in small increments - either my check cleared or it didn't clear. If the money from my other bank could not be verified then why are they giving me money that can not be verified?
