GREAT EXPERIENCE VERY HELPFUL AND ATTENTIVE TO MY NEEDS AND CONCERNS. I GUESS ALOT OF IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT IM NOT A MORON WHO IS CONSTANTLEY OVERDRAFTING AND THEN BLAMING THE BANK FOR FEE'S ON MY ACCOUNT.. CONSIDERING EVERY BANK WILL CHARGE U FEE'S ITS COMMON SENSE.. U DONT HAVE A BAD HISTORY IN YOUR BANKING... BANKS CAN WORK WITH U INSTEAD OF AGAINST YOU. EVERY BANK HAS .. FEES.. SO WHEN U GET HIT WITH THEM IT SUCKS AND YOU OBVIOUSLY HATE THAT BANK.. BUT REALLY WHOS TO BLAME?? YOU ARE.. SO.. ITS CALLED BEING RESPONSIBLE.. NOT CARELESS..

I worked at Indian Shores Fl Branch. Was new but told on several times how great I was doing, even better than some older folks..I even ask if I could do some decoration of branch (it was Dec 08) not much decorating of lobby. Was told by MGR (Debbie)that sure, but she wasn't much into Christmas, she had some family members died in Dec.but Thank God not her kids..Of course that was until My Son died in a Car Wreck just 3 days after conversation.
Needless to say devastated, suicidal even. Under Dr's care for medical problems due to this. But was still nice enough to manage to get their bank keys back to them, in Feb.so they wouldn't be in trouble for an audit, or so they said. However, while trying to get better to go back to work in Mar. (I was told when I brought the keys in, Oh I understand, take your time)they fired me and had no knowledge, no call, no letter, but told I no longer had Insurance and couldn't see the Dr..
If this wasn't enough, I went to another 5/3 branch ask them to list My Daughter as a beneficiary on account,(still not sure I could make it thru this) and they added her to my account. We didn't realize until she had money missing from her account, they didnt do that. After checking into it by a different Bank MGR, we learned they had taken money, due to my overdraft of an automatic payment, and was done thru the branch who fired me and told this Bank MGR, My Daughter authorized it! She didn't even know this was going on, I hadn't told her! Oh But isnt this the Kind of Place My Tax Dollars went to, to HELP THEM!
Oh but when certain, customers came in who had so many bad checks we could run the check to cash it, it was ok to do some off the book type tranaction to cash it for them! Call this Fair Practice for who?

Terrible service! Banker would not return my calls or give me an update on the status of a loan. Was told that the loan would take about 30 days, and 6 months later it is still "being processed." I would not use this bank again.

Tellers are WAY too familiar. When I cash a check they ask me in front of a line of customers, what I am going to do with my money! Not their business..... don't care about the Patriot Act. It is rude and compromises my safety. Also had a very bad mortgage closing at that bank. Settlement check bounced and loan did not close properly. I was told by the branch manager it was 'no big deal' and happens all the time! Really??? He never followed up with me to see if the issue resolved.

Terrible bank with the worst service or any bank I've ever seen. Tried to close my checking account and withdrew the money and opened an account at another bank. They kept charging monthly service charges and calling was a waste of time. Stayed with them 7 years until I finally had enough of them.

I'm writing to let you know about the kind of representation you have for your bank. Two weeks ago I got a cold call from this branch WILSON/44TH 4460 WILSON AVE SW GRANDVILLE, MI 49418 Phone: (616) 257-9260. I know this cause the caller ID gave me the number that I looked up. The person who was calling called about our mortgage and refinancing to get a lower rate. I told him I wasn't interested and he went on to tell about what was out there right now. I again said I wasn't interested and told him that we probably wouldn't be refinancing because we hoped to be building in a couple of years and it wouldn't be worth it for us to refinance now. He said acknowledged that...then I went on to say that we wouldn't be coming back to 5/3 for our next house because of the way 5/3 has treated me in the past because of my name not being on our current mortgage. I told him that month after month the bank sees MY signature on the check that pays OUR mortgage yet I'm not able to get any info on the mortgage. He said in a VERY sarcastic way...."WOWWWW, way to be honest!" I told him again that I pay the mortgage every month yet I can be told anything. His reply......"So I see. Your husband makes the money and you just pay the bills!" How in the heck does know if I have a job or not for one and is that the way you treat a customer! I didn't appreciate this treatment and this gives us even more reason NOT to come back to 5/3. We did not seek you out to begin with. The people who refinanced us did.
Thanks for your time. I hope this get to the correct people. The website didn't have many contacts on it.
Thanks,
Mary Aldrich

I can't complain enough. This is the most unfair organization I've ever dealt with in my life. If you aren't rich as hell, do not keep your money with 5/3. I had an overdraft on my account this week that was incorrectly posted -- I shouldn't have overdrafted, but their online banking is terrible and has a mind of its own, posts payments well after they have already occurred (making you think you have more money than you really do). I e-mailed customer service about it the day of, the day after, the next day, and the next day, and I STILL haven't heard back from them. There are $37 DAILY overdraft fees that built up this entire time. So I called them, talked to 4 different people, and they would not reimburse me for my overdrafts even though THEY caused them and even after I attempted to initiate contact with them FOUR times about correcting the overdraft. If I could afford a lawyer, I would sue to pants off of 5/3. Additionally, there was a problem 2 years ago when I attempted to pay off my credit card (about a $1,200 balance) and instead they doubled my credit card balance. DOUBLED it. I tried to contact them about it several times, and nothing was fixed, and nobody would actually talk to me about it -- the only thing they did was disable my access to pay my credit cards online. So now I don't even have that option, and they're making pay the double balance!!!!! I hate this bank with all of my heart, and finally got fed up enough to move my checking account to USAA, where the air is crisp. They actually care about you and your money, have FANTASTIC online banking, etc., etc. No problems with them whatsoever. The above mentioned problems with 5/3 aren't even half of it, I could go on for hours but don't have the time.
Bottom line: If you have a bank account with 5/3 now, LEAVE. They WILL screw you.
If you do not have a bank account with 5/3, don't ever get one. They WILL screw you.

You are wasting your time dealing with this branch unless you have a significant volume in your account. These folks don't care about your needs, questions, etc. otherwise. Heather Wilson is the biggest offender. I'm seriously considering taking my business to Huntington across the street.

extremely disenchanted with the refinancing process, after paying fees and asking for another appraisal because they would not validate the one that was done only 2 months prior, there appears to be a sadistic quality in their mortgage dept. at the Cary, NC branch, would love to name the specific two people that are uncaring and enjoy bleeding each cent out of their poor trusting customers.

In November 2010, I called 5/3 about refinancing my mortgage. I was quoted a rate and I asked if there were any points. I was told no. "no points?. "no points." I actually spoke to two separate mortgage originators and was told no both times. When I received the Good Faith Estimte it included one point. I was told this was the condo fee which was disclosed during the application process. However, they never asked if I was a refinancing a condo when I first asked about points. Additionally I was told 1) I don't know how much the condo fee will be 2) I don't even know if they will charge it. Maybe I should have known better but to the every day consumer I think this practice is unfair and deceptive. Subsequently my mortgage originator refused to speak with me and left me in the hands of her administrator. Two regional managers were aware of this but did nothing to remedy the situation which only lead to additional delays because the administrator had to get the answers from. I assume, the originator. This process dragged out for 3 months. They quoted me 3 separate deals during this timeframe. Each time I checked on the status, because no one called me, I expressing concern about the rate that I had locked in. I was repeatedly told "Don't worry about it." Finally, in February, 5/3 approved the mortgage only to call me the next day to inform me the investor would not extend the rate lock any longer and the 4.25% locked in was no longer available. Even then, the regional by the name of Scott wasn't man enough to call me himself. However, he was willing to say "It wasn't all our fault" but provided no details nor did he follow up on information I provided him about the delays. Through this process employees have lied, left out information and did projections on account benefits that conveniently left out associated costs. If a bank were willing to stand by it's commitments they would have volunteered to take the loan in house are the rate promised the customer. They left me hanging and cost me $300 per month plus. I will never do business with Fifth Third again. I was told Fifth Third spent $7000 in rate lock extensions throughout the process. For that investment they ended up losing my Home Equity loan. Any investors should be wary about a business that incurs costs that high and still can't close the business!

The tellers can be nice (although they are required to be nonforgiving), but that does not compensate for their deceptive system. I can admit (just this time) that I should have listened to the warning from my roommate, the senior finance major with a 4.0 who scored in 97% tile in the nation on the Bloomberg exam.
