I have been a customer of Fairfield County Bank for many years. Checking and savings accounts and several mortgages. I have also recommended them to my children for their mortgages. Recently had a very disappointing experience when applying for a mortgage. With plenty of assets and few liabilities I went to them for a 15 year fixed rate mortgage on our primary home. Well they don't originate their own loans with the exception of variable rate loans. So that left us at the whims of the large banks, something I was trying to avoid.  We did not get the loan because our condo complex had not established an HOA yet. The builder does management until he sells the last couple of units. It is schedule to be turned over this summer. The issue is that it cost me $1,121 to not get this mortgage. I complained and got a lame response. Fact is that for a good customer they could have originated a loan or advised me of the issues ahead of time. They had a Home Equity Loan on our property that we were replacing with the fixed rate mortgage so they had a prior appraisal and knew all about the property.
