The bank may once have been a small, caring bank, but it has changed over the past 5 years to the point where it is really now no different from Citizens' or Chase or Wachovia. Essex Savings Bank and its customer service is actually poorer than one of the larger, more impersonal banks.
Essex Savings Bank also makes an astonishing number of mistakes and uses a 'we are all human' folksy approach to excuse them, but they do not give their customers this same measure of grace when their customers make mistakes.
In truth, Citizen's Bank is more helpful and humane.
