I have been banking with this branch for over 3 years.
Whenever I compare the service they are giving me with the one I receive from other banks like Wells Fargo or B o A, East West Bank provides a much more personalized service.
All staff is very helpful and respond to my requests in a timely and prompt manner. Whenever I go to the branch, I feel like going home...

WARNING: BAD FAITH AND UNETHICAL BANKING PRACTICES!
Overall Rating
by SCalif, Jan. 06, 2013
If I could give zero (0) rating to this bank, I would.
I opened an account at this bank and made a big mistake by bringing my family to also open an account without first sampling how trustworthy this bank is!
This bank acts like a dictator suddenly closed my family's account and then immediately also closed mine without any banking law or evidence to do so. We requested evidence and documentations to support its barbaric actions. The bank refused to produce any evidence. We did not have any foreign transactions or NSF checks to cause such extreme closure of our accounts WITHOUT NOTICE OR WARNING. To this date, this bank refused to comply and illegally kept our balances against our wills. That is outrageous, bad faith, unethical, and horrified!!!

I couldn't agree with this review more. I met with the bank to get a loan on my house. I was told by the loan officer, Jila Ahdoot, that it wasn't worth her time to give me a loan unless I transferred all of my money into her bank BEFORE applying for the loan. I questioned another employee about this, who said this was false, and then he addressed the issue in front of her and me, at which point she accused me of lying.
Then they wanted my wife to sign the application. I had her sign it, brought the application back, and they rejected it saying it either had to be notarized (even though there is no area for a notary on the form) or have her sign it in person. I brought my wife back an hour later to sign the document in front of them, and they refused to do so. Jila said I had to make an appointment to do this, this while she was in the middle of a walk in appointment, allegedly.
If I had more time, I'd report them to the better business bearough. Instead, I think I will just tell my tale to as many people as I can as a cautionary tail of why not to do business with this bank.
Grade: F minus

Desert Community Bank is owned by East West Bank. The problem is that when one calls customer service for Desert Community Bank one is routed to East West Bank, which cannot or will not do anything to help one with one's account at Desert Community Bank until the DCB branches are open, which is only from 10-5. So why in the world is there even a "Customer Service" phone number for Desert Community Bank?
Other issues are the slowness of their deposit posting and their online account information, which is highly inadequate- pending transactions are not displayed by name, one could have a fraudulent transaction pending and not even know it, because it takes several days for the name of your transaction- i.e. the name of the business where you used your debit card- to show up in your automated account information. Other banks show the transaction by name and type, and whether it is "pending" or "posted" in your automated account info, but DCB only shows the amount available- no individual transaction amount, type or name.
I'm switching my direct deposit to a prepaid debit card and as soon as that's done I'll say adios to DCB, a satellite of East West Bank. I write very few checks anyway and can use money orders in place of checks. And at least the pre-paid debit cards keep your transaction information adequately updated on their websites!

Joseph Fong the manager of the branch has been very unhelpful and unprofessional. He has lack of banking acknowledge. I am a small business customer. He doesn't listen to the customer needs. I would not chose him to be my banker. The staffs in the branch are much better and helpful.

This bank seems to be growing fast. A first I was happy with the service where I opened my account in L.A. The manager was super nice, she will called me when I have item coming in and I don't have enough found. She made me feel I am special. However, once she was gone, and an older man took over the branch, boy I can tell, that man is heartless. I suggest never do business with them. I am looking into another bank ASAP.
I lost my job and am going to tough time; eventually I found a new job and trying to catch up. This manager puts my debt card on hold every time I have an overdrawn on my account; even it's $1.00? At first I didn't know what was going on until I'll go to the store to buy things, food, and I can't pay. I was told the card was reported stolen, and everyone will be looking at me. I tried to explain and convince them that it's not stolen. I have to show my ID to proof myself. That old man manager at 99 Ranch in San Gabriel really sucks. Now, I moved and reopened at another branch closer to me, every the new lady manager is super nice, but her branch does the same thing too. They are doing the same thing just because the last manager did that. I had this account for few years, it never happen before until that old man manager started it. Not only they put my card on hold, they charge a fee around $30.00. I have no problem with charging fees, it's fair if I have an overdraft, but how can they charge fees, and hold your card and made life so inconvenience? Isn’t charging a huge fee is not enough? Please RUN everyone, they is a bank don't care about anyone. There are more and more online banking with no fees, anyone can open a checking account, no need to worry about if you have been reported to chex system. Obviously, all these big bank could careless for anyone but the ones with big money. They really suck. Wal-Mart (Go bank) is opening online banking service end of this month, also check out Capital one 360, all these are growing online bank. Someday, they will put these ugly greedy banks out of business. I plan to file a complain as soon as I can find out the right place. They can't charge a huge fees and hold the debt card.
