I have been with US Bank before leaving Oregon a year ago.  I transferred to the Esplanade branch.  There is a smugness that starts from the top down in this branch's management and extends through a sleazy desire to sell you some financial product down to very poor teller service with VERY long and exasperating wait times. The bank itserlf is a very good bank, but it depends on the branch. If you want wonderful service do like I did...go to the branch at 260 East Second...now THERE is a helpful, friendly and eager to help you branch!

I set up an account in June, with $40 in it. This was before i went off to Illinois. I had some money problems in 2011 with college and other financial issues. But I made it through most. The worst were when I used the last of my money on gas, that was the only time I ever used that card, when I had nothing else. I have two other banks that I use. Credit unions. However, the first time I overdrew my account I was NEVER notified. I found out one day while trying to close my account that it was in fact overdrawn and no one had told me, but that if I DID close it I would be fined $40. Neat. But that's not the end! When I got back from Illinois, I found that though I'd paid the overdraft fees, SUPRISE fees galore for being in the negative, once again I wasn't informed...this amounted to -$160+ in fees. So I tried to close my account again, arriving at the bank in the falls, I was 1 minute past closing time so I knocked on the door. I didn't FIGURE that they would accept me in to begin with, but a seemingly nice employee opened the door and asked what I wanted. I asked if I could close my account, his reply was a flat no, before he slammed the door and locked it. I wouldn't get the chance to close my account until later due to their terrible hours that forced me to rush from work to get there, or wait there 5 minutes before work started. Ridiculous. Now I have to make a special trip to go close my account again and again while they charge me more fees because they can. They cannot put a hold on my account. Needless to say I'm quite mad.

I wouldn't recommend this bank to an enemy. They are absolutely worthless. The staff is generally rude and arrogant. The Blacklick Meijer's location has swindled me for the last time. I will be closing my account first thing in the morning and giving my business to a real bank. Using US bank is like flushing your money down the toilet. Do yourself a favor and NEVER use them for anything.

Rude customer service

I'm not surprised to read these lousy reviews from this branch. I spoke to a sharp-tongued young woman yesterday who was going to relay a message to the bank manager to call me when she couldn't help with my question. I never got a return call from ANYONE. I made a check deposit for $86,000.00. The check was drawn from another local bank. They told me it could take from 5-10 business days to clear. On the 10th business day, my check was taken off hold but they returned it due to ISF and charged me $33.00. What a horrible way to treat customers. I am moving to another branch TODAY

I had a account with US Bank i make a withdraw from my account every month for my ren. They lower my with draw amount to $200 with out letting me know and said it was a mistake, they told me to go to a bank and make a withdraw. I went to a bank that bank told me i had to go to the one that i open i account at because i said on the phone i was going to close my acoount. To make a liong story short they refuse to give me money untill a week day when i did take the money out my account. They refuse to close it saying i need to wait a week or call customer service to close it. They gave me a run around and i will never use them again.

I am visually impaired and have been more than happy with my customer service interactions at this branch till today. Apparently the "new guy" thinks that if he just points and waves things at me enough I will somehow be able to see clearly. Rather like tourists that think everyone in a foreign country can understand English if you just say it loud enough. A frustrating and humilating customer service experience, and I will not use that branch again till that guy is gone. A real shock, considering the level of service I had come to expect.

I was directed to this bank for a boat loan.  I received the loan and 2 years later (Sep 29 2011) I paid the loan off.  US Bank helped me expedite receiving my boat title and on Sep 3 said if I paid for overnight, it would be received by Thursday (Oct 6 2011).  I paid and here it is a full week later and after 7 calls to the 800 number, I finally worked my way to a supervisor who was (rude and sarcastic), but he found out why I have not received my NEXT DAY AIR DELIVERY UPS shipped title.

US BANK's BACK OFFICE SERVICES (shipping department) printed the label on Oct 11 2011 but fail to have UPS pick it up.  I lost the chance to sell my boat to a buyer that has been MORE than patient with me and I have been MORE than patient with US BANK.

Everyone, find a credit union, US Bank has over 300 billion in assets and over 210 billion in deposits.  DO YOU THINK THEY (US BANK) CARE ABOUT YOU AND ME......FIND A CREDIT UNION AND RUN FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

I am an engineer and if I serviced clients like these guys (US BANK), I would be out of business tomorrow.

RUN FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT AND FIND A GOOD CREDIT UNION.

Went into the Northgate Branch of U.S. Bank in Seattle to open a business account (changing from Chase to U.S. Bank.) This is the most non-responsive, apathetic crew that I've ever encountered in a bank setting.

If you go to this branch, expect to never have a call or email returned, and when you ask for the basic services (such as placing a check order on your behalf), they will lie and say they did so and only place the order when you ask for tracking (this happened to us, delaying our order by 1-1/2 weeks.

When I spoke with the branch manager, he stated that this was a fluke of some sort and admitted that they had done nothing to inspire confidence and would have to work to earn our business. He then told me that he would get back to me no later than noon the following day. Guess what? I'm still waiting for that return phone call and/or email.

In today's economy, it pays to put your money in a place that actually deserves it. If you value customer service, the Northgate Branch of U.S. Bank in Seattle is definitely NOT the place to go.

The worst experience I ever had in my life.. The ATM machine took our payroll Visa card and the guy in front of us told us it did it to him and like 2 other people. So when we went into the Bank they said sorry not our problem and since your Visa is not A US bank CARD IT WILL BE DESTROYED. lol THIS WAS OUR ENTIRE PAYCHECK. That is how the company pays its employees. So we are out 310.00, I said ah I am calling the police you just stole from us 310.00 and we are not leaving until it is paid back so we were kicked out of the bank. We got a new card issued from the employer and transferred the funds to find out they took the money from the ATM transaction out even though it never worked and ate the card and is going to be destroyed. SO US BANK STOLE OUR MONEY!!! WE INFORMED THE EMPLOYER TO INFORM ALL THE EMPLOYEES NOT TO USE US BANK WHICH IS AROUND 1100 EMPLOYEES.. THANKFULLY THEY ARE ALL CLOSING THEIR ACCOUNTS THERE. SEE YA SHOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER AT HANDLING THIS, NOW WE STILL NEED TO GET OUR MONEY THEY STOLE 6 HOURS SO FAR. i HAVE CALLED AN LAWYER AND HE IS GATHERING THE INFORMATION AND IS GOING TO THE POLICE FOR THE VIDEO OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BANK AND TO SEE WHAT THE MANAGER SAID BECAUSE AT THIS POINT THEY DECLARE THAT IT IS THEFT.

I opened overdraft protection.  Customer service did not ask or ask me to specify what account I wanted it on, my business or my checking.  I thought it covered both.  So when I was charged a $33 overdraft fee on my business account, they told me my overdraft protection was for my personal account and would not credit the $33 overdraft fee! Needless to say I will be opening another business and checking account at another bank in the near future!

This bank is horrible the people have horrible attitudes and they refuse to help you in any way what so ever do not bank here they are just out to make money

Needed a service to be done and they did not have the correctl level of authority at the branch.  They also said they would call me back to solve my problem and I never heard from them.  Very disappointing as a share holder.

Don't go to this bank.....they don't know how to count!!!! I went in to do a money exchange for larger bills, they didn't count it right. And not just once, TWICE!!!! I watch them count it twice they handed me the money and I proceeded to leave. Later that night I get a phone call from an IN LAW that the bank had left a message on THEIR machine that they were going to debit my checking account from there bank error. Which will make our account negative!!! How about you get people to do there job, I understand mistakes happen but just don't debit people's account when it's your mistake!!!!!!! I work all weekend and now have to find time to go in to fix your mistakes. AND CALL THE CORRECT NUMBER. SOME SECURITY when you put account information on someone else's answering machine!!!!!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!! DO NOT BANK HERE!! Their policy for transactions is for the largest dollar item to post to your account first, making every other item post after. This policy robs you when NSF charges are applied! So, if you knew one item was going to bounce, but you have money in your account to cover all of your prior purchases it doesn't matter. They will run the largest dollar item first and charge you $33.00 for every transaction after that!! I was only expecting to pay one $33 NSF for a check that went through early, but instead I was charged several times that!! They refuse to work with you, which is horrible customer service and I have never had a bank not agree to work with you. They don't care about your customers and I REFUSE TO BANK THERE EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

Mercer Island Washington branch...Steer well clear of these morons.  I have a DCS account with this bank - that is a direct child support account.  When the magnetic strip stopped working on my card, these morons had NO clue what to do for me to gain access to my account.  In fact, all 5 employees told me there was NO way for them to help me!  Seriously!  I went outside, made a couple of phone calls, then had to go in the bank and coach these morons on how to do this simple transaction manually.  Threw them completely for a loop, this bunch is too stupid to learn their job - too lazy to make a simple phone call on behalf of their customer.  Not that any of them were busy at all, quite the contrary.  Took 45 minutes(!!!) I understand that no education is involved, and they likely all get paid poverty-level wages by their bankster employer, but they take Wal-Mart level non-service to a whole new level.  Something you don't expect from a bank. Afterward, I had to go do 2 rather complicated banking transactions - one at Wells Fargo (where I keep my rental accounts), and one at Bank of America (where I keep by business accounts).  In & out of both places in well under 5 minutes.  Not particularly fond of either, I so prefer my credit union - but, comparing apples to apples here.

Branch offices tell you all is good, no charges, etc.   Once you get into the account for a few months they change it and then add on and up the fees.   Totally disappointed in the lack of communication and complete disconnect between those who work in the branches and those who you talk to on the phone.  They don't care, they just want their fees for nothing paid.

Incompetence meets criminal policy

Not only are the policies for business accounts firmly set on charging outrageous fines for minor infractions, but there are also very few options offered to help the busy professional.  I am a single mother of two, and have sat in their office with a personal banker (which isn't personal at all because the entire staff changes every week or so) going over the policies and procedures for when an account is overdrawn and the best they could offer me on my business account was a text message to be sent to my phone when and if it were overdrawn.  This is supoosed to send a text at the first sign of overdraft because they do not allow you to "opt out" of their criminal system of allowing your card to be used when there is no money in the account and then charging you $33.00 and $10.00 for every charge.  Well, I never got the text message and even though I have over $1,500 in customer checks to deposit and had only spent $100 in a weeks time, I am now looking at over $500 in bank fees.  Yes, $500 on $100 in only one week because they refuse to simply block my card when there is no money in the account.  Yes, I keep track of my banking, but not every single transaction every single day.  I check it once a week like I do my post office box and that is why I really need a bank with good customer service.  They call me multiple times in a month to ask what they can do to serve me better but they don't listen to any of my requests.  Not only that, but because my business was purchased from a woman who opened the bank at the Vivion branch, they are telling me there is nothing they can do to refund the money they are stealing from me without first checking with that branch.  I have done all my banking with this branch for over 3 years.  I have had two other instances of overdraft and have paid hundreds of dollars in fines for similarly small infractions.  Each time I sat and discussed how we could prevent this and explained to the "personal banker" that I am doing my best and I simply need an added layer of protection.  They don't offer it.  They intentionally steal hard earned money from small businesses while their CEOs roll around in the profits.  U.S Bank is just as bad as B.O.A, and definitely just another arm of the criminal banking cartel.  Is there even a legitimate credit union anymore?  U.S Bank is not for single moms, that is for sure.

I have tried for months to modify the phone number on my account.  My account manager, Jenny, has no idea why it hasn't been changed.  Unfortunately, she is my account manager, and there is nobody else that can get the job done.  It would be wonderful if I met a US Bank employee that was competent enough to ensure that an account change happened, and followed up with me letting me know that it happened. As it stands, I spend the first few days of the month re-discovering that nothing has changed.  Even becoming rude doesn't spur these folks into action.
