Deborah Tucker and the branch manager Gloria are two of the most helpful bank workers that i have every meet. They went well above and beyond to help my mother get a line of credit on her house so that we could move her into an assited living community. My mother has been with 53rd Bank for YEARS, and now I see why. Both women spent a lot of time with my mother in person and with me over the phone to get this done. I am very grateful for the help they gave us and the difference they made in our lives!

I had called the day before to go into the Three Rivers branch to apply for a secured credit card. They notified the gal I was supposed to see and I took a seat. I can see right into her office from the chair I was in and she flitted w/her hair, took a few calls and messed w/the computer. Then a guy she knew (maintenance?) walks in and they talk for 15 min about kids, vacation, everything under the sun. Then her daughter comes in and the love fest really heated up. I walked out after being ignored for 1/2 hour. Switching to a CU-beyond fed up.

Went in for advice on how to invest $200k my grandfather left me. I'm not a finance person but I could tell the "advisor", Scott, I was assigned to wasn't either. It took him over an hour to fill out simple paperwork and kept messing up. His nervous responses to my basic questions made me regret ever stepping into the Strongsville branch. Almost 2 hours later I hightailed it out of there under teh pretense that I had to go pick up my son at school. Biggest waste of time. I doubt this guy could figure out how to open a checking account let alone offer me financial advise.

June 8th I went in 5/3 to shop around on a loan. Patrick at the Lancasterr ohio branch off of Schorrway Dr was the loan officer that took my info, and within minutes had my credit score. Talk about interest rates, which were pretty good. So decided to proceed with the loan process.
Two weeks went by with no contact.By the beginning of the third week I called Patrick left a message. Patrick did not call back. Went in the next day (Wed). He was not there, ask if someone could look up my status of my loan. They couldn't bring anything up on computer. They said they would have Patrick call, he never did.
Went back to the bank Friday morning. Patrick was there. He said after looking my application up that everything looked good should close the beginning of the next week.He didn't call!!!
I called him Tuesday afternoon. Just by chance he picked the phone up,He assured me we would close on Thursday and he would call back with a time. Once again Patrick never called.
After a 4 week period of Patrick misleading me I got the bad news in the mail, denying me of the loan, which was disappointing, but I was very angry that Patrick couldn't be straight with me.
My hope is He or His superiors will read this review and change the way they serve thier customers.
I will never recommend this bank to anybody! Their Lending policy are the lowest standard I have ever come across.

We were moving back to Indiana from Caifornia and used Dean Niepokoj at Fifth Third in Crown Point IN to do our loan. Big mistake! He was unprofessional and dishonest. At close we signed a form stating we didn't want Billpayer. After close he went to lengths to state that he told us about a "discount" to get a better rate by choosing Billpayer. We would never have chosen to have the bank take money out of our accounts automatically even for some sort of discount! I asked to speak to his manager and he said he didn't have one. He sent paperwork for Billpayer after the close and we sent it back stating we did not want it. Billpayer has been in our account taking money for the past two months and when I called them they said that I would have to talk to my loan officer to cancel. HE won't call me back. I called in to the branch in Crown Point and left messages for management without a return call. What kind of funny business is this. Is this fraud? Can they take money out without authorization/consent?

I was at this branch today assisting my client with a disability with making a deposit & getting a transaction record. The client was with me & showed her his state identification prior to making the deposit. She stated there had been no transactions from that account. I asked her for a copy of the transaction record indicating no transactions & she acted like she was being inconvenienced. I was surprised he hadn't had any transactions so I asked her "So you're saying there have been no deposits or withdrawals in the last 30 days from this account." She looked really annoyed & said in a nasty & emphatic manner "No". I asked her if he had had any other checking or savings accounts at 5/3rd. (I usually don't work with his money & my client would not be able to tell me if he had other accounts there. I asked because the financial staff had indicated he may have withdrawn more money from his account than his budget allowed.) She told me she could not tell me because I didn't have the account, even though he was standing right there & had identified himself! He had to ask her the same question again & she answered him in an exasperated manner. She interacted with us in a negative manner & I was not pleased with her quality of customer service. I would love it if her supervisor could talk to her about this.

While not a member of the airport branch and I am 5/3 customer at the branch near my home. The airport branch does not differentiate and has been awesome in finding ways to help me out when I've forgotten funds, lost my checkbook, lost my ATM card, etc. during my 10+ years of weekly travel. They have seen me standing waiting and opened early, helped me write desk checks for funds, and through withdrawls without ID (after asking a LOT of ID questions) They are one of a few establishments that still give real friendly and appreciatated customer service. Thanks!

Calling on a Sunday when a loan is not even LATE!!!!!
Overall Rating
by neverlate, May. 29, 2012
I have a mortgage and a car loan with 5/3. Neither of which has been late in a very, very, very long time. The car loan is about 1 1/2 years in existence, which has never, ever been late. It is not late until the 29th of each month, and due the 19th. I dropped it off on Friday evening in the night deposit, the 25th. Sunday my husband got a call on his cell phone reminding him that the loan would be late if not received by the next Tuesday.....yes, the next Tuesday....this call was made on a Sunday, Memorial weekend! He was out of town and did not have a clue. Isn't life stressful enough without a bank doing this? He called me to check and I told him it was already at the bank. We have NO history of late payments, STOP DOING THIS!!!!!!!!!

I put in a loan application Thursday, and its now Saturday, I have to keep contacting Lindsay to get her to get back with me. Still as of 2 p.m. today nothing, and it's now a long holiday weekend so it won't be until Tuesday. Very pitiful!!!! I now know why I hate that our mortgage is with them. This is definitely not your average bank. I've been banking at this location for the past 3 years. They go out of their way to help me. Their teller Danielle and banker Kimberly are especially very helpful and nice. This is the first bank i have ever been to that actually lets me talk and asks me questions to try to see my whole picture. They have even offered to review my life insurance policies. I also got signed up for their identity protection. It was really inexpensive and they helped me to get some credit report errors corrected through their identity theft program. I will be a customer for life. If you want a bank that says hi, here's your receipt, bye , try another bank. If you want to bank with people who you can trust and care about you, you have found your bank. I even had my friend go there and open accounts , they treat her just the same. I saw on here that some people had problems with overdrafts, I really think their way of dealing with these is easy to understand. I'm betting these overdrawn people complaining are the same people who overdraw their accounts every other week.

I will never recommend this bank to another person in my life. They will never give you an honest and helpful answer to any of your questions. My father is a very wise investor, whom works for Edward Jones, and he warned me to avoid this bank not only for the TERRIBLE staff but, the BOGUS policies of fifth third bank, my fiancé and I decided that this was the best way to go in our small town and we both have paid dearly for it!
- The Loan Officers are IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of, they never return calls, and are spread far too thin.
- The accountants only need 6 months cash handling experience - meaning they don't have to understand how a bank works they just need to know how to count. I swear if I had a dime for every time something went wrong in that bank, I asked a simple question, and they said I don't know... I might have stayed banking with them.
- The higher ups at this bank are completely shellfish in fact they have event let my personal information side through a couple of times granted it was to my father calling on behave of me, but let's face it people are getting more and more shady anyone could have called.
- My fiancé’s card was charged an overdraft fee, that's not bad if... 1.) He hadn't signed a NO-OVER DRAFT policy meaning, if he doesn't have money or if what he is trying to buy exceeds the amount in his account then HE GETS NO MONEY!!!!! It's simple in theory and yet Hastings Fifth Third dropped the ball again. 2.) He had a 500.00 dollar balance and his paycheck was just deposited, and lastly 3.) If they could explain where the heck the money went I could understand but, they can't so hmmm.
Basically, do NOT bank there you will regret giving your business to this bank. The best thing I ever did was close my account and my money to CHASE BANK in CALEDONIA. Longer drive but for better staff, better banking, and better policies.

Solicitations in My No Solicitation Community

Our community in Kissimmee has clear "No Solicitation" signs posted as you enter. Today there were big flyers from Fifth Third Westside hanging from the outside doorknobs of the all the homes. Not only are they in poor taste and breaking the law, but since we are a community of many short term rentals, these big flyers signal to anyone entering our area, just which houses are currently unoccupied. How reckless and dangerous for all of us. Completely unprofessional. I wouldn't consider doing business with them now, just for that reason alone. Who could possible think that is a good marketing idea? Think Again.

The tellers are great. It is the managers who walk around doing nothing when the lobby and drive-thru are jam packed. They don't return phone calls. Why should I let them use my money?

Branch manager would not give my card back even with identification. ATM reader was not working and retained card, clearly not something I did. In addition the manager, Sara Williams, was unprofessional and extremely rude. All of my accounts are now closed, I would suggest not doing business or using any of their ATMs. I am extremely disappointed with this bank's service and lack of professionalism.

Every time I walk in they great me "welcome to fifth third bank Tom" and they strike up conversation. I love that! I hate when I go shopping and I'm checking out and the cashier is silent and can care less about you to give you a fake smile & sometimes a greeting and than pure silence throughout transaction. I have been banking with US Bank location down the street for over 10 years and they didn't even know my name when I decided to close accounts. If you're looking for a community bank feel and great customer service give the fifth third bank on 63rd st a try. :)
