My company's Shell Oil Fleet credit card business was purchased by Wex Bank effective December 2018. My first credit card invoice had a $3.00 charge resulting from the issuance of a paper statement. While I didn't recall seeing any advance notice of a paper charge fee, I paid the fee the fee and anticipated similar fees in the future.
I paid the entire balance timely, by phone. I received an e-mail message stating my payment was late. I wanted to confirm the payment was process properly so I phoned the next day. there was a prerecorded message stating that the company had an issue and the payments made during the period of time that Wex Bank had a computer processing issue and all payments will be credited as of the date made. Fortunately I retained my confirmation number.
This month I received the paper invoice. This invoice had a $39 late fee, $10 paper invoice fee and interest due to the "late payment". I called customer service and spoke with "Claude" who was clearly a member of a subcontracted customer service agency somewhere outside the United States.  he stated that the RECORDING was not a person and the bank had no obligation to waive the fees, but would be happy to process a waiver. Are you kidding me?
I believe the recording was creating an obligation that all late fees be corrected without the necessity of a phone call by the consumer. "Claude " responded as if he was doing me a favor and never apologized for the Bank's error or inconvenience, nor thanked as a customer. Furthermore, he stated that the fees would be reversed only if the customer called.
I look forward to canceling my company charge cards and either opening a new card supported by a different bank, or selecting a different vendor for my fleets' gasoline.

The jury is still out. So far no troubles with Higher One or its parent company WEX Bank. I will however be watching carefully for excessive fees and the like. I have chosen to have my refund deposited into my personal account and we'll see how that goes. Most of the complaints I see here relate to people who have no idea how to manage their money.

Take some responsibility, seriously!  It's clear that the troubles you are experiencing with HigherOne stem from an inability to manage your funds.  Additionally, I fail to see how cancer treatments have ANYTHING to do with not having access to your HigherOne funds - unless you are a medical student who was going to be doing the procedure, I can't imagine this as an "educational expense."  And finally, you don't have to use HigherOne.  It's a benefit passed to you as a convenience for getting your funds a day or two early.  You can link your own bank account and HigherOne will direct deposit your funds.  Again, take some responsibility.  Playing the victim isn't cute.  Really.

I am glad to read someone else has had a similar situation. I called and had the merchant on the phone with me to cancel a charge from that merchant. It still took 10 days despite the merchant deleting the charge. Very frustrating!! Also, Wex rep said the merchant processor had to expire the charge. No one at this merchants office including IT dept. knew what that was. I'm changing where my payroll check is deposited. I feel your pain if I were stuck using these guys I'd pull my hair out.
