Synovus is a great bank! They have the best customer service and great products. Their HELOC is my favorite option which has a FIXED interest rate option which is unheard of for a HELOC. Highly recommended!

I had an issue with my online account giving me inaccurate information, called, they said they would get back to me and never did. I walked into the office later that day to a quiet office with nobody to welcome me in. I waited awkwardly with blank stares and no acknowledgement for 5 minutes. Finally, somebody greeted me. I told them my issue, was directed to 2 other people, the third was the manager who was very rude and unprofessional to me. I have been a customer at Synovous (previously Coastal Bank and Trust) since 2007 (14 years). I had a check that said it went through on my online account, with me still having additional balance after it went through. Then, I was charged a fee the next day with a insufficient funds charge. I had more than enough money in my account and in fact pulled it all out the next day in cash. The bank did nothing about this. Turns out the online system does not give accurate information and is outdated. The customer service did nothing to accommodate the miscommunication between systems. Very disappointed and leaving Synovous immediately as they love to FEE people and not help them. I am finally debt free and taking my future investments/savings elsewhere.

This is for the Sorrento Branch in Florida..

Absolute awesome and friendly people and make me feel like they appreciate my business..They call you by name and really make the effort..Long holds on checks especially  when it's a new  account...I really don't blame them..The drive through lady is also sweet and friendly...

I have banked with Calhoun, GA branch since 1990. The past year, since my daughter received her student account, has been the banking experience from Hell. Per Synovus policy, if we sign up for online banking, her student account is waived of the $3 fee for sending out paper statements. The website continued to be faulty, stating error messages to try again later to sign up for paperless statements. We called the online customer service to also be told to try again later. We kept on trying and kept getting paper statements and fees. Finally, my daughter went in to the Calhoun branch where she spoke with a customer service lady who in turn called me. She told me there was nothing wrong with my online account that it was my computer not theirs. I went on to tell her that I have tried it on 3 different computers. I told her if we couldn't get it resolved I would close my 3 accounts and take my business elsewhere. She responded by laughing at me. This confirmed that my business is absolutely unimportant to this bank. I called, yet again the customer service for the website. The gentleman was very nice and did see an error on their end for why I was unable to ever accept paperless billing. He reset my online account and was able to finally get paperless statements. Needless to say. We never received a refund for the $3 per statement charges for getting the unwanted Mail. I called the lady back who the previous day had laughed at me and told her that I had resolved the issue through the online support. I let her know the issue all along had been the bank and NOT my computer. And that even though the issue is now resolved, the unprofessional way the matter was handled by her and for laughing at me when I stated I would close all 3 accounts and take elsewhere, I was closing them all now as well as some of my other family members who banked there. Synovus is evidentially more focused on helping themselves more than the customers. I will never darken the doors of a Synovus bank again as long as I can help it.

I have been with this bank for a few years now and have to say, this is the friendlyist bank I've ever been in! The women there are eager to help with whatever you need, even a bone for your dog!! I feel so welcome whenever I'm in there. It's not just a business, they do get to know all of their customers and they treat people like more than just a number. I always leave with a smile!

This comment applies to the Nashville Bellevue brance:

No overdraft protection after being a customer for 14 years. Staff members are nice enough, but it's hard to reach the manager by phone. This year, in particular, has been odd, from a security standpoint. My check card number was hacked twice in the span of 10 months - resulting in a frozen account until the unauthorized charges were proven.

I live paycheck to paycheck and don't make the bank any money. But I have a family member that does, and we are considering moving her account based on their treatment of me and my late father.

All banks should remember that the little people are worth their time. I'll be closing my account soon.

Late last year I was looking for a small loan to buy a condo.  I have excellent credit, stable work history, and I had 25% down.  The other banks wouldn't loan on a condo unless it was priced over $80,000.  I was trying to take advantage of the drop in condo prices to secure a retirement condo. I had found a nice one for $40,000.  The other banks didn't want to lend me $30,000.  I guess the amount was too small.  Synovus welcomed me and worked with me to get the money I needed.  The staff was warm and friendly.  Everyone made a point to introduce themselves to me.  I've recommended them so many times.  I love regional banks and this one is one of the best.

Come June 18, this bank (all branches) are going to start charging non customers a fee for cashing Bank of Coweta checks! In other words their OWN checks! How absolutely pathetic is that? $.01 - $25 = free, $25.01 - $100.00= $2, $100.01 or more = $5 I can promise you, if you don't have good credit, they WON'T allow you to become a customer. Everyone that does not or cannot get an account with this bank, start refusing to accept checks from this bank! Something has GOT to be done to stop banks from ripping people off!

ok I signed up for"signature free checking account two years ago..everything has been fine till today...I received a letter saying my signature free checking account will be switched to "access checking " which carries 10 dollar monthly service fee and minimum balance of 1000...I did not agree to this I agreed to terms concerning signature free checking ..(no minimum balance  and no service fee)
I expect the bank to honor their end of the bargain .
I would never open such an account...the reason I went to your bank in the first place was because you offered free checking..this is a form of theivery...im so angry with banks in general but I was happy with my account as is I already called consumer protection and local news station..its fine if you don’t want to offer free checking to new customers but to change the terms of existing contracts is against the law its called bait and switch!!!...   I cant change the terms I signed up for and neither should the bank ...this is a moral and legal issue its just wrong to charge someone for something you offered for free to get customers..then change the terms after the contract is signed...
 I have my original agreement and it clearly states no minimum balance and no monthly fee..if I open new account I would understand but this is an existing account in good standing..the terms were agreed to at signup...

FL     ..  also when I called the bank the local branch your manager patrice hung up on me twice I was polite I didn’t swear or threaten anyone ...still she would not listen to my concerns or answer my questions...she should lose her job..I have a loud voice I will tell everyone I know and also will organize a campaign to out synovus and their questionable business practice...A  DEAL IS A DEAL!! I HAVE COMPLIED WITH THE TERMS I THINK THE BANK SHOULD DO THE SAME   SINCERELY ONE PISSED OFF CUSTOMER!!

The staff is great, you dont feel like a number when you go in. Its like Cheers everyone knows your name and its one big family.
The accounts are fair and if they do have a fee are less than the bigger commerical banks. Its worth it for the service you receive.
