As long as you never have an issue (overdraft, fees, missed payment, anything) they are nice enough.  If you ever have to contact the 1-800 number prepare for pain.  The reps don't know what they are talking about.  They can't answer questions, and have a very dismissive tone.  Sadly, this has been my experience every time I have called the 1-800 number.  If you ask to speak to a manager they are just as useless, and will claim that there is no one above them expect for a president that you can only contact by snail mail.  Needless to say, no impressive in today's tech world.

Suntrust will charge you every chance they can.  They only want to steal your money.  They are criminals and should be put out of business for how they treat customers.

Lost My Home to Suntrust Fees!

After being on a fixed income with Unemployment Insurace because of a lay off, my direct deposit came in on the same day every week.
Suntrust took out their monthly fee on the same day as my deposit but withdrew their fee first and posted my deposit last.  Of course taking their fee first overdrew my account and caused numerous overdraft fees when if they had posted the deposit first all withdrawals would have been covered.  I asked Suntrust to return the fees and they refused stating "Corporate has instructed them not to return any fees."  Needless to say being on a fixed income I could never catch up because Suntrust continued to take out fees. After (5) days of not paying overdraft fees they collected "Continuous Overdraft" fees.  When my deposit would hit the next week, of course Suntrust would help themselves to my direct deposit.  When it was time to pay my mortgage I did not have the money.  Suntrust apologized but "there is just nothing we can do."  My home was forclosed on.  I decided to close my account. Suntrust stated they would close it when I put the account at a zero balance.  So I paid again overdraft fees and stopped my direct deposit.  Two days before the account was set to close their monthly fee came out and put the account back in the negative with more overdraft fees.  This went on for three months - me paying fees to get the account closed and Suntrust lieing and allowing automactic payments or their monthly overdraft protection fee to come through after telling me to cancel my direct deposit.  I went to three different branches before the account was closed.  This third manager at the Horn Lake Branch assured me she would not let any automatic payments come through while the account was waiting to close, but you better believe I had to pay those overdraft fees back to a zero balance.  After closing the account Suntrust had the audacity to seek payment for the overdraft account.
Suntrust's practices are criminal and this company does not care about any calamity these practices leave behind.  After banking with them 11 years this is the treatment I received.

Common criminals. Common theives. Common predators.
