I was at your Columbia SC location today to cash my 15 yr old sons
check from his grandparents, he signed the back of the check and I
signed underneath. The teller informed me that she could not cash this
check because my son was not with me. I have never had this issue when
cashing any of my sons birthday or christmas checks for them as they
seldom receive checks that need cashing anyway. The manager was called
over to help handle this major transaction of $250.00 . After a few
minutes he decided that he would make an exception and go ahead and
cash it for me. By then It was too late and I was frustrated and ready
to leave, I had just finished work and thought I could run in cash a
check for my son from his grandparents and be back on the road before
rush hour started. After all I had been a good customer for many years
and I have never had this type of problem before. I guess my question
is before I drag my son downtown (since regions closed my local
location down) what type of identification does he need birth
certificate, school ID, or a letter from his mother?
I am receiving a sizable settlement at the end of the summer, I will
have a hard time handing any of it to a bank that wouldnt even cash a
check for me without seeing my son first, after my years of being your
customer I feel you dont trust me at all. Should I trust you? Let me
know what form of ID my son needs to bring. Please let me know if this
is your policy.
