The only reason this bank is getting one star is because they don't allow you to give them zero stars.  First of all let me just say that this bank has the most horrible customer service of all the bank I've banked with before, both the branch and the 1800 number.  My bf and I opened an account back in February and they have given us nothing but trouble since the beginning.  First I understand we are all human and as humans we make mistakes but no one person in this business is willing to admit that they too might hire people who for lack of better words are not fit to work in a service business. My boyfriend and I have been disrespected at this branch, they spoke to us in a condescending manner, they told us we were free to close our accounts implying that "since they are such a big bank" they do not need our business, and put all the blame on us for their mistakes.  In addition when we called the 1800 number they take forever to answer, when they finally do they just keep transfering you from person to person failing to resolve you issues and they do not you back even when they say they will.  And to top it all off they are only opened on saturdays until 4 and not on Sundays.
So let me tell you just one of the mishaps we had with this bank so that you can be aware of what a bad business it is.  My boyfriend found that someone was committing fraud with his account one Saturday afternoon.  How? who knows because he didn't loose his debit card or anything and out of all the banks we have had we had never encounter fraud (just showing just how not only their service is bad but their security as well).  Well, as you may already imagine he noticed the fraud on Saturday afternoon and well of course the customer service was already closed until that Monday.  So he's only option was to observe his money disappear little by little without being able to do anything about it as his bank was closed.  Now Monday finally got there and in addition to the terribly moneyless long weekend he now how to wait a until the bank did the "investigation" for his money to be returned, being that if they only had been opened he could have stopped some of the fraud while it was happening.
Now I have worked in a bank before and I know that they can reinstate the money to the victims account right away, being that the customer has already been through enough. I mean it's not like it was 1000 dollars and being the average american we live pay check to paycheck and having to wait one whole weeks to pay our bills is not a pleasant situation.
So, I said I don't understand how the fraud was possible as I mentioned that he didn't loose his ATM card right.  Well obviously if they somehow got a hold of the card number and they were able to make an online purchase right? However the unexplainable thing was that these people were buying food, such as long john silver (without and ATM card)... this to me is just wrong and just reflects on the banks poor security measures with their products.
To end this I just want to reinstate that this was just one of the mishaps we had with this bank and we have only had this bank for about 6 months.

Terrible banking experience- with savings account.  Because I don't keep a high balance- NOR do I deposit a minimun every month- I am charged $15.00--- SOOO, guess what, when I'm already struggling to keep my head above water-- now I learn $15 was taken from my meager savings.  Wow-- that was going to be my lunch money for the rest of the week.  Nothing like being kicked when you're down.  Shame on you Compass Bank.
